Senior Sendoff: Alex Voss

As the UChicago Maroons will play their final game of the season this Saturday, February 27 at 3pm, the team will also be celebrating Senior Day. So, in the spirit of saying goodbye to our six seniors and thanking them for all that they’ve done for the team, here are some words from the guys themselves.

Alex Voss

Forward. 6-5. 210. Loveland, Ohio.

What has been your favorite part of being a student at UChicago? And what about a part of UChicago’s men’s basketball team?

My favorite part of being a student-athlete here has been the level it has pushed me to.  My favorite part about being on the men’s basketball team has to be all the guys and the team camaraderie.  It has been amazing each of the last four years: even with moving parts its the best group of guys.

What is your favorite on-court memory? What about off the court, with teammates, etc.?

My favorite on-court memory would have to be my first and last dunk of my career against Case.

If you could change one thing about your time at UChicago, what would it be?

I disliked some things but I wouldn’t change anything because it has all led me to be a better student, athlete, teammate and person.

Who did you enjoy playing against the most? (Team or individual player…)

WashU was always fun to play against. Lots of players specifically have been fun, too (mostly the forwards from other teams that I have had rivalries with).

What advice do you have for your freshmen teammates, moving forward? And what has been the best advice you’ve received from the coaching staff, other teammates, etc.?

Get through the tough days because they will come. But you will look back on them and be glad you pushed through/can bond over some of the tough times and laugh about them later on with teammates.
