Forward. 6-8. 225. Helotes, Texas.
What has been your favorite part of being a student at UChicago? And what about a part of UChicago’s men’s basketball team?
My favorite part has been the friendships I’ve made during my time here. And in terms of the team, the best part is obviously my teammates.
What is your favorite on-court memory? What about off the court, with teammates, etc.?
During a game my sophomore year, Royce Muskeyvalley, who was a junior at the time, passed me the ball at the top of the key and I was wide open. I was going to pass it to someone else when he yelled at me to shoot it. I could shoot threes but I wasn’t sure if the coaches wanted me to in games or not so I was hesitant. But I shot it and it went in. It was just a funny exchange and we laughed about it after. And our international trip to Australia is probably the best memory off the court.
If you could change one thing about your time at UChicago, what would it be?
I probably would’ve volunteered more in the ER and other shelters around Chicago because it’s actually interesting and a lot of fun.
Who did you enjoy playing against the most? (Team or individual player…)
Probably Nate because we’ve had a lot of fun battles in practice throughout our four years here. But as a team, probably Case Western.
What advice do you have for your freshmen teammates, moving forward? And what has been the best advice you’ve received from the coaching staff, other teammates, etc.?
I’d tell them to keep working hard because they’re the future of the program, but also to enjoy their time with the team because they’re your family. That’s the advice I got when I was a freshman from the older guys on the team.
Any last words?
It’s been a crazy ride playing for this team, but I’m glad I went through it with my brothers.
