No. 33, Sam Sustacek, Finance Intern at THOR Companies
A sophomore out of Plymouth, Minnesota, Sam Sustacek is taking on the finance industry this offseason.
“I’ll be working as a Finance Intern at THOR Companies in Minneapolis this summer. While I spent my first few weeks getting acclimated with the accounting and operational processes of THOR, I am now working to help streamline/improve processes; as the company prepares for rapid growth, I am trying to assist them in any way that I can.”
“Fortunately, I already had a connection to one of THOR’s executives. So I thought it would be a really awesome opportunity to learn finance skills and methods in a real business setting, instead of just in a classroom.”
“I’ve really enjoyed being productive this summer, and learning from people who are leaders in business. The Minneapolis community has also been a pleasure. Overall, THOR is a fascinating company, and I am lucky to be able to have a position there at this time.”
“I think UChicago has really prepared me to work hard at whatever I’m doing, because it takes a lot of hard work and determination to be successful at the university period. That work ethic has helped me settle in to my internship quickly, and start making a positive impact in the workplace right away.”
“This summer I have been lifting regularly, while also playing in a Pro-Am league locally. I’m really excited to get back to work this fall though, and see how my teammates have transformed their games this offseason.”
